Our meeting meets in-person every other month to work The Circles and Steps 1 through 9 in community in 4 hours. This is a great way to get a preview for the breadth of the SAA program. This is one application of the steps and the program, there are many, but the majority of the information that makes up the worksheets we use come directly from the Green Book (Sex Addicts Anonymous). Our hope is that this meeting helps demistify various aspects of the program: how to use the Three Circles to define abstinence, what step work based on the suggestions in the Green Book can be like, how to sponsor and be sponsored according to the Green Book. Our meeting is a closed, mixed meeting.
Closed Meetings
From the Green Book (Sex Addicts Anonymous), page 11: "Because of the sensitive nature of sexual addiction, many of our groups are 'closed,' meaning that only those with a desire to stop addictive sexual behavior may attend. Anyone else interested in finding out about SAA may attend 'open' meetings."
Mixed Meeting
From the Group Guide: Handbook for SAA Groups, page 15: "Most SAA meetings are mixed meetings, meaning that the meeting is open to all who have a desire to stop addictive sexual behavior, regardless of gender."

What's the difference between an SAA member, participant, newcomer, volunteer, and temporary sponsors and sponsees?
These words can mean different things in different settings, this guide is offered as tool to help understand these terms in the context of our Green Book Steps In The Midlads meeting and throughout this website.
SAA Member
According to our Third Tradition, an SAA Member need only have a desire to stop addictive sexual behavior. In the context of this site and this meeting, an SAA Member is a member of SAA who is seeking their own sexual sobriety.
Participant
In the context of this meeting and this website, participant refers to anyone who attends this meeting with the goal to complete the worksheets.
Newcomer
In the context of this meeting and this website, newcomer refers to anyone who is within their first 8 SAA meetings, has not yet started the steps, does not have a sponsor, or may still be experiencing difficulty obtaining and maintaining abstinence from addictive sexual behavior. Recognizing an SAA Member as a Newcomer does not diminish their rights or priveldges as a member of SAA, we only recognize this special circumstance as a way to help us focus our efforts to those in need of the support SAA has to offer. No SAA Member is required to identify as a Newcomer.
Volunteer
In the context of this meeting and this website, volunteer refers to anyone who serves the needs of this meeting, both when it meets, and as it prepares to meet again. This might include the presenter, the temporary sponsors, and other trusted servants to help make this meeting possible.
Temporary Sponsors & Temporary Sponsees
In SAA, we use sponsorship in the program for more experienced members to help guide less experienced members through the various concepts and practices of our program. Similarly, sponsorship in this meeting is focused on helping participants complete the worsheets and various workshop parts together. Because this sponsorship relationship is limited to the meeting and the workshop activites, we refer to these relationships as temporary. Temporary sponsors may be able to guide temporary sponsees outside of our meeting, or it is possible in this meeting to meet other SAA members available to sponsor. In our meeting, we reinforce that sponsors serve sponsees by guiding them through the program. A sponsor is not in a position of control or power over a sponsee, rather the sponsor is a trusted servant of SAA who helps guide someone through the program, a sponsee.
